Champions of Old Korvosa
This campaign will be using the Unchained Afflictions rules from Pathfinder Unchained.
To summarize the rules: When exposed to an affliction, the victim makes one or more saving throws. Failing a saving throw progresses the affliction to its next stage. Each stage imposes increasing penalties on the character, depending on the nature of the affliction. Characters start at “Healthy,” and the final stage is often “Death.” Most poisons have four stages between these states, and most diseases six.
Because the new afflictions do not generally impose ability score penalties (as with standard afflictions), standard rules for battlefield cures don’t apply. The following rules are modifications to existing items, spells, and other effects to take into account the new afflictions rules.
Heal Skill: The treat disease and treat poison abilities of the skill remain the same: Treating poison or disease while the victim is still making saving throws is a standard action. If yourHeal check exceeds thd DC of the affliction, your patient gains a +4 bonus to her saving throw against the affliction.
recover from disease: You may treat a person suffering from the effects of a disease. On a successful Heal check against the DC of the disease, the disease drops by one stage up the prgression track (toward “Healthy”). This treatment takes one hour. Using a dose of antiplage during this treatment grants you a +2 alchemical bonus to this check. For any given disease, a given patient may only receive the benefit of recovering from disease once per day.
recover from poison: You may treat a person suffering from the effects of a poison after the poison has been cured or run its course. On a successful Heal check against the DC of the poison, the poison effect drops by one stage up the progression track (toward “Healthy”) This treatment takes one hour. Using a dose of antitoxin during treatment grants you a +2 alchemical bonus on your Heal check. A given patient may only receive the benefit of recovering from poison once per day.
Lesser Restoration: If you cast lesser restoration on a creature suffering the aftereffect of poison or disease, the stage of the affliction reduces by one step up the advancement track (toward “Healthy.”)
Neutralize Poison: I have rewritten this spell to take into account the unchained afflictions rules. See the Spells section.
